We are the karate organization F.S.A Kenshinkan.
We wish to further the Japanese concept of a sound mind with
a sound body. We train according to the following principles:
[KENSHIN ICHINYO] Unification of mind and body
[JIKOKAKURITU] Self reliance
[JITAKYOURAKU] Consideration for the well-being of others
Karate is an ideal form of training, possessing the Japanese
merits "GOSHIN RENTAN" (self-reliance), "KENKOZOSHIN" (promotion
of health), and "SEISHINSYUYO" (cultivation of the mind).
We are proud to share this part of Japanese traditional culture
with the world. Through karate, it is possible to imagine
a world with no boundaries. We believe that youth raised in
an international environment are more likely to promote peaceful
activities.
In addition to the hard striking techniques of modern and
traditional karate, F.S.A Kenshinkan practices what is called
JUHO. The term JUHO refers to what are known as "soft techniques".
They consist of joint manipulation and breaking techniques,
throws, and other forms of grappling. The techniques use mechanical
advantage and leverage to amplify one's own power, and are
directed toward the weakest points of an opponent's body.
Every year, we participate in the international exchange Kokusai
Koryu Karate-do Taikai tournament at Yoyogi National Stadium,
which allows us to interact with people from many different
countries. Our children's division also gives a karate demonstration.
We also enter several other international tournaments for
new students of karate and from 1999 we started to hold the
International F.S.A Kenshinkan world karate tournament and perform
demonstrations and activities on a regular basis as well.
